How to Write an About Page That Earns Trust

Visitors check the about page to decide whether to trust you. Clear, honest detail beats big claims.

An about page is often one of the most visited pages on a site. People want to know who is behind it.

Say who you are

Use real names and, where appropriate, photos. Describe your role and experience in plain terms.

Explain what you do and for whom

State clearly what you offer and who it is for. Avoid vague phrases that could describe anyone.

Tell the story briefly

A short account of why you started and what you care about makes you human. Keep it honest and specific.

Show evidence

Where you have genuine results, qualifications or examples of work, include them. Never invent claims or testimonials.

Be transparent

Describe how you make money, how you handle sponsored content and how people can reach you.

Make contact easy

Link to a contact page or give an email address. Visitors trust organisations they can reach.

Keep it up to date

Revisit the page regularly so it stays accurate.
