Ways to Make Revision Less Stressful

Stress before exams is common. A calm plan and healthy habits make revision more manageable.

Students studying together in a classroom

Exams can feel overwhelming, but a clear approach reduces anxiety.

Make a realistic timetable

List each subject and topic, estimate how long each needs, and spread them across the available weeks. Include breaks and rest days.

Start with the hardest material

Tackle difficult topics when your energy is highest. Easier ones can fill the gaps.

Break it into small tasks

Instead of “revise history”, aim for “summarise the causes of the war in one page.” Small goals feel manageable and can be ticked off.

Practise past questions

Doing questions under timed conditions shows what you know and what to improve, and it makes the exam format familiar.

Study with others

Explaining a topic to a friend can strengthen understanding, but only if the group stays focused.

Look after yourself

Sleep, eat well and move around. Short walks can clear your head between sessions.

Ask for help

If you are struggling, talk to a teacher, tutor or family member. Support is available, and asking early helps.
