Contribute

Write for Better Writing Skills

We publish practical, carefully edited articles from guest contributors, including sponsored articles from brands, agencies and individuals. This page explains how it works.

Two ways to contribute

Pitch an idea, or publish a sponsored article

Editorial pitches. If you have a strong idea for our readers, send us a short pitch. We review every pitch and publish at our discretion. Editorial contributions are not guaranteed a place on the site.

Sponsored guest posts. We accept paid guest posts. Sponsored articles follow the same editorial standards as everything else we publish, are edited by our team and are clearly labelled as sponsored. Rates are available on request; there are no prices on this site.

Topics we accept

We publish across many topics

Better Writing Skills started with writing and now covers the subjects our readers ask about. Choose a topic to see what we look for and how to pitch.

Why contribute

What you can expect from us

We care how articles look to readers and to search engines. Here is how we work with contributors and sponsors.

  • A clear process from pitch to publication
  • Honest feedback, and a reply to every submission within a few business days
  • Articles published in a relevant topic alongside related reading
  • Clear sponsored labels and sponsored links, with the policy in writing
  • No promises about rankings or traffic, because we do not make claims we cannot back up

Questions worth asking any publisher

Whoever you publish with, ask the same questions of us. Is the site real and maintained? Does it publish good articles? Is sponsorship disclosed? Can you see the pages you would appear alongside?

Ask us for the details you need before you commit. We would rather you decide with clear information.

What we publish

Our core writing topics

Writing and publishing are our roots, and we now publish across many topics, listed in full below. Articles that give readers something they can use the same day do best.

  • Writing craft: drafting, revising and style
  • Grammar and style: punctuation, voice and clarity
  • Blogging: planning, structure and growth
  • Content and SEO: writing for people and for search
  • Copywriting: headlines, product copy and persuasion
  • Freelance life: briefs, clients and editors
  • Tools and habits: routines that make writing easier

Our requirements

What every article needs

  • Original work that has not been published elsewhere
  • Specific, useful and accurate, with examples where they help
  • Usually 800 to 1,500 words, with clear headings and short paragraphs
  • Written for readers first, with promotion kept to a minimum
  • One relevant link to your site where it adds value
  • Sources for any statistics or claims

Sponsored posts

How sponsored articles are handled

  • Every sponsored article is labelled as sponsored.
  • Links in sponsored articles are marked rel="sponsored", following Google’s guidelines.
  • Our editors review and may edit every article for quality, accuracy and fit.
  • We may decline any submission, and we do not accept every topic or brand.
  • We do not promise search rankings or traffic. We publish good articles; results depend on many other factors.

FAQ

Questions contributors ask

How quickly will I hear back?

We reply to every submission, usually within two business days. If your topic fits, we will confirm the angle and the link before you write or before we edit your draft.

How long does publication take?

Once a finished draft is approved, most articles are edited and published within five to seven business days. Timely or seasonal pieces can be scheduled for a specific date if you tell us when you submit.

Do you charge for guest posts? Where are your rates?

Editorial pitches are free and are published at our discretion. Sponsored guest posts are paid. We do not publish rates on the site because they depend on the topic, length and scheduling; ask through the submission form and we will reply with current availability.

How are sponsored posts labelled?

Every paid article carries a visible “Sponsored” label at the top, and it is listed under our sponsored content policy. We will not publish paid content disguised as independent editorial.

What link attributes do you use?

Links in sponsored articles use rel=”sponsored”, as Google asks for paid placements. Links that we add for reference to sources use normal or nofollow attributes at our editors’ discretion. We do not sell dofollow links or remove the sponsored attribute on request.

How many links can I include?

One link to your own site in the body of the article, placed where it helps the reader, plus an optional link in a short author bio. Further links must point to independent, authoritative sources that support the article, such as government sites, studies or major publications.

Is the article permanent?

Published articles stay live with their links for as long as the site operates. We may update facts, fix broken links or add corrections under our corrections policy, but we do not unpublish sponsored articles without telling you.

How long should the article be?

At least 1,000 words, and usually 1,200 to 1,800. Length should follow the subject: a focused guide that answers one question thoroughly beats a padded one. Include sources for every statistic.

Will you edit my article?

Yes. Every article, paid or not, is edited for accuracy, clarity and our house style. We may change the headline, trim promotional language and ask you for sources. We send significant changes back to you before publication.

Can I submit AI-generated text?

We do not accept unedited AI-generated articles. If you use tools to help, the finished piece must be accurate, original, fact-checked and written in a natural voice, with sources a reader can verify.

Which topics and niches do you not accept?

We do not publish content about gambling or casinos, adult content, cryptocurrency or forex trading, CBD and pharmaceuticals, payday loans, weapons, or anything illegal, hateful or misleading. Health and finance articles must be accurate and sourced, and may be reviewed more strictly.

Can I republish an article that appeared elsewhere?

No. We publish original work only, and once published, the article should not be republished elsewhere.
